Earlier this year we advertised for people to join our Social Investment Board and help us to oversee how we invest our Social Dividend. We had a fantastic response and the interview panel of Edna Robinson (THT Chairman), Larry Gold (Deputy CEO THT), Joanne Bennett (Local Councillor) and Fay Jackson (Social Investment Manager) had the exciting and very challenging job of selecting the final 11 Board members.
On the 26th of September the successful Investment Board Members held their first meeting to begin their work to tackle poverty in Trafford.
Steve Hughes (Chairman) welcomed the Board Members to their new roles and expressed his excitement about the team which had formed & the task ahead.
Fay Jackson (Social Investment Manager) outlined Trafford Housing Trust's 12 year history of investing in communities & spoke of the legacy the Community Panels had created. Fay cited local knowledge, connections & a real commitment to local neighbourhoods as the source of success for the Community Panels & expressed the need to maintain those local insights through the Volunteer Ambassadors, Community Mentors, Virtual Committee & Board Members. Investment through the fund is about time & support, not just money.
The Board Members and Staff team worked through a number of topics together including Prioritising where investment could make the biggest impact in Trafford; how to promote the Living Wage; and looking ahead to what a successful fund will have achieved in 2 years time.
Action planning has now begun & we look forward to keeping you up dated on progress!
